End of May 2017

Things are starting to grow! We had a ton of rain a couple weeks ago, and everything is green. We had a late frost on May 19th and 20th, but I covered the tomatoes, and they did just fine. We even have a blossom on the Early Girl! Had to thin the radishes today - about an inch in between - and I started working on thinning the kohlrabi - 3 to 4 inches - but have a lot left to do.

The aspen trees are dead I think. Still no buds swelling. But we have shoots coming up from runners, so maybe they'll make it yet. The asparagus is doing well, as is the peony. All that moisture has made them very happy! There sure are a lot of weeds in the tree farm - I need to get to that before I leave for Convention.

First planting of 2017

The rains held off just long enough today for me to get some seeds in the ground - and Bob was able to finish fixing the roof after it collapsed from the heavy snow this spring. I have three tomatoes and two culinary lavender ready to put in next.
